The Formation

CORD LITERATURE was founded in 2007 by its founder Oneil Douglas in the Beacon House of Rikers Island in 2007. With well over 15 years of experience and an extensive drive to work, it was inevitable that this movement would take off. Since our initial formation, we have expanded our organizational structure and incorporated several entities under the umbrella of our foundation .

CORD LITERATURE as a league, was developed as an outlet of hope for youth growing up in our impoverished urban culture. Its initially started for Chaunel, ONeil, and Radbourn Douglas, three individuals who bonded through bloodline and lent each other the family support and structure that was needed. Since its formation, CORD has shaped into a large network that has spread domestically. We remain committed to the challenges youth face in our society, and have expanded our foundation into many areas.

We hope to create an environment that lends young independent creative authors/artists the opportunity to display their talents and further promote themselves.

ABOUT US

MISSION STATEMENT

It is the goal of CORD LITERATURE LLC to provide quality products and services with a focus on, but not exclusive to, the prison inmate population of the US. Beginning with a publishing company and four books in the genres of: short stories, poetry, memoir and crime-drama, all of which are complete and in the editing stage, CORD aspires to bring more authors on board and provide promotional support through advertising and public appearances, through a Kickstarter campaign, which is in the planning stages.

PROOF OF CONCEPT

CORD will attain an all-important proof of concept® with the publication of an initial run of a single book, which will then be used to leverage further for more significant investment. Success in publishing will open up other opportunities to grow CORD into an umbrella company, that will include other endeavors such as: inmate pen pal matchmaking, prison newsletters or other publications such as inmate correspondence, as well as other non-prison related activities.
